What The Youth Think

Before building anything for the younger generation, ask them. The Youth Survey Questionnaire Project, titled Empowering the Young Generation of Pakistan, asked young people from matriculation to graduation what they want, whom they admire, what they fear and what they are willing to give. It is the baseline the three wings are built on.

  4. Education and skill development
  5. Professional awareness: which successful professionals and scientists they can name
  6. Social media and entertainment, and their influence
  7. Career preparation and networking
  8. Awareness of social issues, including underprivileged youth and out-of-school children

Why it was done

The three wings, Unsung Achievers, CourseMera and Noor-e-Ilm, were designed in the same months. A story series, a course platform and an on-site programme are only useful if they answer what young people actually think, so the questionnaire was written first and the programmes shaped from it: the achievers young people name became the guests of the stories; the skills they said they lacked became the courses; the guidance they said they never received became the on-site mission.

Where it stands

The instrument was drafted between October 2024 and February 2025 with a doctoral scholar of the Department, and the data were collected in 2025. The analysis is being written up; a plain-language summary will be published in the Research Bulletin on this site, and the survey is the baseline for the longitudinal study planned alongside the on-site programme.
